Dr Lavrin grew up in both Melbourne and Hong Kong and received his dental education at the University of Adelaide. He then worked as a general dentist in Melbourne and Warrandyte. Furthering his expertise, Dr Lavrin completed a 3 year orthodontic specialist programme and Master's in the US at Harvard University. Numerous awards for scholastic and clinical excellence have been received by Dr Lavrin and he has published articles in the orthodontic and scientific literature. He has worked in private Orthodontic practice in Massachusetts, USA, lectured internationally in the US, Canada and Asia, and has taught orthodontics to dental students at Harvard University. Dr Lavrin has been interviewed on Melbourne radio for his expert advice and knowledge about orthodontics, teaches in the Orthodontic Department at the University of Melbourne and is an editor of the Australian Orthodontic Journal. He holds professional memberships in the Australian Society of Orthodontists, the Australian Dental Association, the World Dental Federation, the Dental Anthropology Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Lingual Orthodontics Association, the Australasian Society of Lingual Orthodontics, and the Harvard Society for the Advancement of Orthodontics. He is currently President of the Harvard Club of Australia (Victoria) and Federal Treasurer of the Australian Society of Orthodontists. Dr Lavrin is an accredited member of the Australian Orthodontic Board.

Dr Sarah Lawrence originally grew up in New Zealand and graduated from the University of Otago, New Zealand with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. Upon graduation, Dr Lawrence worked in a private practice in Auckland as a General Dentist. She then spent a year working at Westmead Hospital, Sydney where she had experience in all facets of hospital dentistry including Children's Dentistry, Special Care Dentistry of disabled and medically compromised patients, Maxillofacial Surgery and Oral Medicine. To further her experience, Dr Lawrence worked for two years in the United Kingdom as a Senior House Officer in Maxillofacial Surgery.
Returning to Australia, Dr Lawrence completed her three-year specialist Orthodontic training at the University of Melbourne. In addition to seeing patients at Lavrin & Lawrence Orthodontics, she is a specialist staff orthodontist at the Royal Children's Hospital where she treats patients with craniofacial anomalies including Cleft Lip and Palate as well as medically compromised patients. She has published in the scientific literature, lectured in Australia, New Zealand and the UK and has taught orthodontics to dental students at the University of Melbourne. She is a member of the Australian Dental Association and the Australian Society of Orthodontics and is an accredited member of the Australian Orthodontic Board.
